SENIOR HOURS

During this crisis, the stores are announcing special hours for seniors from 8-9 am, excuse me, am? For seniors? I had to laugh when in a store the other day and they announced that to me. Like I get up at 7am? Um, has anyone notice that we retired seniors stay up late or even have very restless nights at times for one reason or another. We look forward to sleeping in, in the morning, perhaps even until noon if we want too. I announced to everyone in the store that those hours are wrong, they need to be in the late afternoon after we have our naps!

Then it takes us at least an hour or two to wake up, fix our coffee and food, and ‘do our constitutional’ (you know what I mean). Then, get dressed finally, trying to decide what to wear for the day can, in itself be a challenge.

Another problem is that many seniors can’t drive anymore and depend upon family, friends, public transportation to get to where we want to go and even to have someone to help us and carry groceries in and out and unload. It can be a huge task to even try to get to early doctor appointments.

In thinking of the prospect of being in a store filled with other seniors, who might have the virus and not know it yet, since ‘we’ are a vulnerable group, certainly does not thrill me. (or have just one person with 'it' be working there or come in, recipe for disaster)

I could go on, but who is the moron who thought this up?

Early morning is the safest time
in the store, after the -
hopefully- deep cleaning and
before those younger, reckless
people who think they are
invulnerable to death have a
chance to breath on everything.

Even if I wake at 7 I like to
have breakfast, walk, putter
before going out, but this is
that brave New world we've heard
so much about.

I don't think the stores are deep cleaning, that would be an impossible task hon. Our local stores are always 'hiring' as they don't have enough workers to do the basics that is needed. Poor things, they look exhausted and not in a good mood.
