Key Details:
▪️At least 80 killed and more than 100 wounded after multiple Israeli airstrikes devastated a densely populated residential block in western Beit Lahia.
▪️The massive attack shook the entire western part of Beit Lahia, collapsing buildings with civilians still inside.
▪️Many victims had evacuated from other parts of Gaza seeking shelter but were bombed without warning as they gathered.
▪️Paramedics and Civil Defense crews are unable to reach the area due to ongoing artillery fire and surveillance drones.
▪️The death toll is expected to rise as many remain trapped under the rubble.
Dr. Eid Sabbah, Director of Nursing at Kamal Adwan Hospital, shared the following statement with @DropSiteNews on the Israeli attack:
“Peace be upon you.
As the director of Kamal Adwan hospital revealed, not far from Kamal Adwan, Israeli air force targeted a residential square in its entirety, in the region of Beit Lahia. Close to Abu Jidian, in between Abu Jidian roundabout and Masjid Al Qassam, in the area of Beit Lahia.
There were more than four five residential blocks that were razed to the ground. At this moment there are more than 67 martyrs and tens of injured, some of whom reached the hospital, some of whom remain under the rubble.
A massacre that is horrifying, a butchery , a mass extermination that is committed against our nation’s children, our women, our elders, our men of Jabalia refugee camp in north Gaza. Truly these days are difficult and harsh ongoing, ongoing, ongoing.
We ask God almighty to have mercy on our nation’s children and to lift this cloud and this burden from us and our nation’s children. And to lift the siege on Kamal Adwan Hospital and all the hospitals and for life to return to normal and for the entire world from journalists and the media and human rights organisations and healthcare institutions in the world to say their words before it’s too late, before our nation is exterminated”

Oxfam condemns killing of water engineers in Gaza Published: 19th October 2024
"Oxfam condemns in the strongest terms the killing in Gaza today of four water engineers and workers from the Khuzaa municipality who were working with our strategic partner the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility (CMWU).
The four men were killed on their way to conduct repairs to water infrastructure in Khuzaa, east of Khan Younis. Despite prior coordination with Israeli authorities their clearly-marked vehicle was bombed. Oxfam stands in solidarity with the CMWU, their partners and the families of the victims.
Their deaths deepen the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza where access to clean water is already severely compromised.
Dozens of engineers, civil servants and humanitarian workers have been killed in Israeli airstrikes throughout this war. They were all working on essential services to keep Gaza's fragile infrastructure running. Despite their movements being coordinated with the Israeli authorities by the CMWU and the Palestinian Water Authority, to ensure their safety, they were still targeted.
Attacks on civilian infrastructure and those who maintain it are clear violations of international humanitarian law. Those responsible must be held to account. Such attacks are part of the crime of using starvation as a weapon of war.
Oxfam demands an independent investigation into this and other attacks on essential workers. We reiterate our calls for a ceasefire, an immediate halt to arms transfers to Israel, and the international community to ensure Israel is held accountable for its continued assault on civilians and those working to deliver life-saving services.
