there is some truth to that...mostly though, the US is supplying Israel weapons to protect itself from future attacks...i mentioned in a previous posts that most of the recent weapon deals are not going to be delivered until at least 2026...so not for gaza actions...you have a lot of chutzpah to think you know what it going over there...you get bits and bobs of info, most of it highly spun and unreliable...i do think the biden administration is doing what it can to secure a cease fire and the return of the hostages...

and you're certain of this, how Bopp? of course, if Israel says it won't use them against Palestinians, why believe otherwise?
wow. way off in 2026, a year and a half away.
So in the midst of committing a genocide, annihilating an entire society you think rewarding Israel with a continuous flow of weapons is a good thing? lol
I might have chutzpah, but you sound insane.

Yeah, and there are a lot of civilians, women, children, hospitals in Israel that did not vote for genocide, either...and many in Israel want Netanyahu gone as well.
You remove their defenses, they'll be gone in weeks and you'll have a new genocide on your hands.
I'm not against removing "offensive" weapons. I do have an issue removing defenses weapons for all the civilians in the cross fire of all those who wish to destroy Israel all together.
They need a regime change..by their people would be best. The "government" of Israel needs a total direction change or, what they are doing to gaza, will be done to them as well.
I don't see a lot of difference between either Hamas or Netanayu and his regime.
The civilians are paying (or will) for both their crimes.
Netanyahu had a right to defend Israel, but he's gone far beyond that.
In our chats just after Oct 7th attack, I think everyone knew what was going to happen. Hamas knew it too. They offered up their women and children as sacrifice to "their" cause knowing they could hide.
How about this...we remove all the civilians and put Hamas and Netanyahu and his right-wing cronies in a room and let THEM fight it out and leave their people out of it.
I do not like what is happening to the Palestinian people. I also do not want to sacrifice civilian Israeli children, either.
Iran, Houthis, Hamas and many others with Russia and other players funding them, would wipe level Israel and all the innocents if we remove defensive weapons.
Two genocides are not better than one.
Let's keep working on getting the one stopped--or getting innocents out of there, but don't stop "defensive" measures of Israel to make it worse.

Yes! Best idea I've heard yet! Only improvement might be, how 'bout we remove Hamas/Netanyahu et al entirely, drop 'em in the middle of the Gobi desert, let 'em have it out there...after warning away all tribespeople who might be in the area...
...that's how it always should be, like ryan said -- the actual couple-three humans behind the chess pieces, brought out from behind the curtains & dropped into an isolated enclosure to thrash out whatever they must...

better yet imo, instead of a mano y mano physical battle, how about putting them in an escape room, with a time limit, that could only be solved if they work together to figure out how to get out of it...if they don't work together to get out of it in a specified time, the room is filled with a lethal gas to end the squabble...

what he isn’t saying is that the future deliveries are to replenish their supplies because of all the heavy ordinance they are using to kill women and children in gaza. all these weapons are for israel to defend themselves and maintain the balance of power in the middle east. the problem is israel isn’t using them to defend themselves and since they aren’t responsible enough to use the weapons we send them in accordance with international laws and human decency the supply should be cut off

Far as I’m concerned, Bopp was being kind by calling it “chutzpah”…and no, he doesn’t sound “insane”…
Your personal crusade to indict anyone who sees a more complex picture going on, in the Middle East, than can be resolved within the vastly oversimplified parameters your arrogance insists upon as reality is doomed to failure, akira… Irs clear you imagine yourself to be the martyred heroine of injustices being “ignored” by everyone else…
But hey, you keep on railing against our inhumanity, long as it keeps you feeling special…

all the weapons were supposedly to help israel against attacks. the us never expected israel to drop thousands of 500 and 2000 lb bombs on densely populated neighborhoods but that is exactly what israel has done with damned horrific consequences. the us never expected israel to fire thousands of heavy artillery shells into densely populated neighborhoods but that’s what they are doing. we are the supply lines for the ongoing genocide and if we continue to supply them we share the blame. it’s time to cut off the weapons to the nation committing these crimes against humanity

I distinctly recall reading repeatedly beginning many months ago that the US put NO conditions on how Israel used weapons we supplied them. We also said repeatedly we wouldn't investigate how they used those weapons - that it was Israel's discretion and up to Israel to investigate any alleged abuses. The US has continually avoided assuming any responsibility for the war crimes, for the genocide being waged. We are and have been 100% complicit in Israel's terrorism and genocide. We've helped to literally destroy Gaza beyond repair. And Kamala Harris shows no indication of changing that policy of complicity.

It is that simple.. this war is caused by, and perpetuated by, Hamas. Every life taken has been taken because Hamas wants it to be so. Every life, every person suffering, is suffering because Hamas wants them to be..
Every tweet, every twit that moans for those trapped in the quagmire, is there because Hamas wants them to be.
It is that simple.. if Hamas frees the hostages the war would end. But do the twits tweet that?

Ceasefire would be a start. I note you complain when Israel won't sign, but not Hamas.
A two state solution is favored by many worldwide. Most here.
Peace cannot happen without ceasefire and hostage return.
Barring that, Hamas has to be eliminated or there is no peace by their own admission. Hamas made their deal with the devil and they traffic in Palestinian & Israeli bodies to keep their Iranian, et al., backers happy. No deal, no return of hostages and the misery continues.

you're either disingenuously, or ignorantly leaving out the fact that Netanyahu is the party who has continually changed demands & rejected a ceasefire. Because he doesn't want one.

What we know about the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh
Jessie Yeung By Jessie Yeung and Abeer Salman, CNN , Wed July 31, 2024
Israeli hostage relative on her ‘worst fear’ after assassination of Hamas political leader 01:31 - Source: CNN CNN — The assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital Tehran has rocked the Middle East, threatening to further destabilize the region and jeopardize ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas over the war in Gaza.
The attack on Haniyeh came in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with Hamas pointing the finger at Israel – which has so far declined to comment.
All eyes will now focus on two key questions. What happens to Gaza hostage and ceasefire negotiations, given Haniyeh headed up the group’s political operations from overseas and acted as a key interlocuter with international mediators? And will this strike inside Iran prove to be the catalyst for a potential full-blown regional war?
Here’s what we know so far.
What happened? Haniyeh had been in Tehran for the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and was staying in a residence for veterans in the north of the city, state-affiliated news outlet Fars reported.
Haniyeh was hit directly by a rocket in the room in which he was staying, Hamas spokesperson and deputy head Khalil Al-Hayya said at a news conference in Tehran. He said Israel would “pay the price” for the “heinous crime.”
Earlier, Iranian state media IRNA reported that an “airborne guided projectile” had targeted the building at around 2 a.m. local time.
IRNA said Haniyeh’s bodyguard was also killed, and that further investigations are underway to determine the details of the operation and the position from where the projectile was fired.
Shortly afterward, Hamas decried what it called a “Zionist strike” and a “grave escalation” in its decades long conflict with Israel.
One Hamas official said the group is “ready to pay various prices” and that the “moment of truth has come,” adding: “This assassination will not achieve the goals of the occupation and will not push Hamas to surrender.”
When asked for comment, Israel’s military said it “doesn’t respond to reports in the foreign media.”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian (right) meets Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh (left) at the president's office in Tehran, Iran, on July 30, 2024. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian (right) meets Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh (left) at the president's office in Tehran, Iran, on July 30, 2024. Iranian Presidency Office/AP Who was Haniyeh? Haniyeh, 62, was born in a refugee camp near Gaza City, and joined Hamas in the late 1980s during the First Intifada, or uprising. As Hamas grew in power, Haniyeh rose through the ranks – being appointed part of a secret “collective leadership” in 2004.
He became political chief of Hamas in 2017. The following year, he was named a “specially designated global terrorist” by the United States.
Despite that designation – and unlike Hamas’ military leadership – Haniyeh travelled globally, meeting with world figures as the political head of the organization.
During the war with Israel in Gaza he has taken a central role in hostage and ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas.
Earlier this spring, he said Hamas was willing to strike a deal – but it would require Israel withdrawing from Gaza and a guarantee to cease fighting in the enclave permanently, demands that Israel has called “unacceptable.”
How does this impact ceasefire talks? Haniyeh was in touch with mediators in Qatar and Egypt as recently as early July. Those talks now hang in the balance, despite some hope earlier this month that they were nearing a framework agreement.
A source with knowledge of the negotiations told CNN Wednesday that Haniyeh’s death could “complicate mediation talks.” The source said Haniyeh was “instrumental” in getting certain breakthroughs in negotiations and – along with the Hamas military leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar – was a “key decision maker.”
“How can mediation succeed when one party assassinates the negotiator on other side?” Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, a mediator on the talks, posted on X on Wednesday. Qatar’s capital, Doha, also hosts the main Hamas political bureau. “Peace needs serious partners & a global stance against the disregard for human life,” Al-Thani wrote.
Haniyeh’s death “will have significant influence on those negotiations,” CNN Political and Foreign Policy Analyst Barak Ravid said on Wednesday.
In a statement after the strike, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum urged the Israeli government “to decisively advance negotiations,” to secure the release of the hostages who have been held in Gaza since the October 7 attack on Israel.
“While military operations over the past 10 months have achieved significant security gains, true achievement can only be realized with the release of all 115 hostages still in captivity,” it said.
“The deal proposed by the Israeli government and supported by President Biden represents the only viable path to secure their freedom, allowing the living to begin rehabilitation and the murdered to receive proper burial.”
The assassination of Hamas' political leader deepens fears of an all-out war in the Middle East 03:58 - Source: CNN What has the world said? Leaders from around the region have weighed in, with some condemning the killing and voicing alarm about the potential fallout.
Palestinian leaders, including the Palestinian president and prime minister – who come from factions that have deep historical rivalries with Hamas – have condemned the killing and called for Palestinian “national unity.”
The White House has seen the reports of Haniyeh’s killing, a spokesperson said, but declined to immediately comment further. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said he does not think war in the Middle East is inevitable, but that the US would help defend Israel if it were attacked.
Leaders from Russia and Turkey have both decried the assassination, warning it would lead to larger conflicts in the region.
Other Iran-backed militant groups have also voiced sympathy – including Hezbollah, based in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen.
Two reported killings, in quick succession News of Haniyeh’s killing came just hours after Israel said it had killed Hezbollah’s most senior military official, Fu’ad Shukr, in a drone strike in Beirut, Lebanon.
People gather near a site hit by what security sources said was a strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, on July 30, 2024. RELATED ARTICLE Israel says its Beirut strike killed Hezbollah’s top military commander, who it blames for Golan Heights attack The group has not confirmed Shukr’s death, but said on Wednesday he “was present” at the time of the strike.
If true, Shukr would be the most high-ranking Hezbollah official to have been assassinated since 2016 when Mustafa Badreddine, the group’s top commander at the time, was killed in Syria.
Whatever the fate of Shukr, Wednesday’s strike marked the most serious Israeli escalation since confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel began on October 8.

your 1st article
how is Hamas dropping demand for full ceasefire a bad thing for Israel's side? this supports my claim, not yours.
Hamas says ceasefire must be based on group’s July response Excerpt
“Hamas has said a ceasefire plan for Gaza must be based on where talks were a month and a half ago rather than any new rounds of negotiations.
In a statement on Sunday night, the group called on mediators “to present a plan to implement what was agreed upon by the movement on July 2, 2024, based on [President Joe] Biden's vision and the UN Security Council resolution”.
On 2 July, Hamas issued its response to the outline ceasefire plan announced by Mr Biden on 30 May.
The details of Hamas’s response have not been made public but the group is understood to have dropped a demand for a full ceasefire at the outset rather than an initial six-week pause put forward by the president.
Negotiations resumed a week later, with Hamas accusing Israel of introducing new conditions.
Hamas sources told the BBC that the introduction of the new conditions - that displaced Palestinians should be screened as they return to the north of Gaza, as well as the question of control of the Philadelphi corridor that borders Egypt - have been sticking points.
It has also been widely reported in the Israeli press that these new demands were made by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that they have caused friction with his negotiating team.”
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4gex1rl6q5o ——————————————————————————— Bopp's 2nd article again, Isn’t Hamas dropping a demand a good thing, bopp? repetitive, but here we go -
Hamas ready to drop key demand in truce and hostage deal ... - CNN
https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/06/middleeast/hamas-ceasefire-deal- compromise-official-says-intl/index.html Excerpt
“CNN — Hamas is ready to reconsider its insistence that Israel commit to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza before signing an agreement that would usher in a temporary truce and begin a process to release hostages still held in Gaza, a senior Hamas official confirmed to CNN.
The change in Hamas’ position was first reported by Reuters, and comes amid intensified efforts towards reaching an agreement. The group has long demanded Israel agree to a permanent ceasefire before signing any deal, terms Israel sees as unacceptable. The apparent willingness to compromise raises the possibility a deal could be reached.
Hamas would instead accept that talks on reaching a permanent ceasefire would take place throughout the first phase of any deal, which would last six weeks, the official told CNN.”
——————————————————————————— Bopp's 3rd article
This article supports my claim, that Netanyahu keeps changing the conditions for a ceasefire. That’s what Hamas is protesting here. It clearly says Hamas agreed to the US proposal:
excerpt Hamas rejects Gaza ceasefire deal, blaming Netanyahu for setting new ...
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-19/hamas-rejects-gaza-ceasefire- deal-blaming-netanyahu-new-obstacle/104240942
Hamas rejects Gaza ceasefire deal, blaming Netanyahu for setting new 'obstacles'
Hamas rejects Gaza ceasefire proposal, accuses US of lying. In short:
Hamas has rejected the latest ceasefire proposal, saying it ignored key demands and accused the Israeli prime minister of setting new conditions that it could not accept.
Hamas has always opposed proposals which allowed a continuing Israeli presence inside Gaza among other provisions it says are biased towards Israel.
What's next? Iran had indicated it would withhold its retaliatory attack if Israel agreed to a ceasefire deal.
The Palestinian militant group Hamas has rejected the latest proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying it was biased towards Israel.
The group had been considering a bridging proposal put forward by the United States, Egypt and Qatar after talks between mediators and Israeli officials last week.
Hamas officials did not attend but were briefed on the talks.
Now the group says the proposal includes new conditions put forward by Israel that it cannot accept.
"After being briefed by the mediators about what happened in the last round of talks in Doha, we once again came to the conclusion that (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu is still putting obstacles in the way of reaching an agreement and is setting new conditions and demands with the aim of undermining the mediators' efforts and prolonging the war," it said in a statement.
Hamas has always opposed a continuing Israeli presence inside Gaza, ongoing Israeli control of the Egyptian border and will not agree to a ceasefire that is not permanent.
(SEE PREVIOUS ARTICLE IN WHICH HAMAS CONCEDES DEMAND FOR PERMANENT CEASEFIRE.)
It said the new proposal ignored those key demands.
"He (Netanyahu) also set new conditions in the prisoner exchange file, and backed down from others, which all prevent the completion of the exchange deal," it said.
"We hold Netanyahu fully responsible for the failure of the mediators' efforts, the obstruction of reaching an agreement, and full responsible for the lives of his prisoners, who are exposed to the same danger that our people are exposed to due to his continued aggression and systematic targeting of all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip."
Mr Netanyahu had earlier told an Israeli cabinet meeting Hamas was blocking a deal.
"We are holding very complex negotiations in which the other side is a murderous terrorist organisation that is unbridled and obstinate," he said. "There are things we can be flexible on and there are things that we cannot be flexible on, which we will insist on. We know how to distinguish between the two very well.””

"that displaced Palestinians should be screened as they return to the north of Gaza, as well as the question of control of the Philadelphi corridor that borders Egypt - have been sticking points."
Let me see, you expect Israel to let terrorist agents go into a secured area without being screened? Hell no. That's not an unreasonable demand to screen them, and probably wasn't necessary before the population wasn't being moved to North Gaza in thousands. Control of the corridor is also not unreasonable since the plan is for moving materiale that hopefully would not include weapons, drones or missiles like the MANY thousands lobbed at Israel.
Only, ONLY a government intent on continued fighting would object.
So, yeah, Israel wouldn't sign, they aren't that stupid.
How prejudiced/propagandized are you that you think those demands are unreasonable?
And if Hamas thought so much of that agreement why didn't they sign it in July?
Their objections are just buying time for ... who ? Not Palestinians.

Jerusalem CNN — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reversed on a key Israeli concession in ceasefire negotiations, demanding that armed men be barred from returning to northern Gaza during an eventual ceasefire, an Israeli source familiar with the talks told CNN. Israel had previously agreed to allow Palestinians unrestricted access to northern Gaza during an eventual ceasefire, but the prime minister told his negotiating team this week to demand that armed men be barred from northern Gaza as part of any ceasefire and hostage deal, the source said. https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/12/middleeast/israel-netanyahu-ceasefire- talks-intl-latam/index.html

Under the bassinet? Hiding weapons in the kitchen?
Where was the target? Why is this dragging out?
Why hasn't Sinwar surrendered and stopped this slaughter? Or just agreed to a ceasefire?

No it doesn't mean she was in Hamas.
It doesn't mean she wasn't.
These are hard times and I am not privy to her choices. This event is a poster child for Hamas, though.
And a few more to tally toward the Hamas 100,000. Too bad they don't see it as an impetus to ceasefire. Had they signed the one last week those babies would still be alive.

"why would you accept eternal subjugation?"
To live, for my neighbor to live. As pro-life as you are, I'm surprised that you encourage Hamas, who have lost none to starvation, yet seem so delighted to lose more innocents in order to please their generals in Iran. They had hundreds of millions invested around the world, and lived in luxury in Qatar while their people suffered under oppressive policies.
These are the people who have promoted war and genocide of Israelis for fifty years. Have prohibited free commerce and filled schools with propaganda of hate, presented their population with inadequate healthcare and insisted 80% of the population depend on world generosity for necessities, all while stamping out violently any hint of opposition.
They fight with Iranian bought & manufactured weapons and hide behind the suffering, under the sick, in the food stores. They promise to kill any Palestinians that take food from any but their hand.
Who knows what Israel or any country would be to a population that laid down their arms?
After all, Texas was a territory taken by war.
But to your question, closer to accuracy, the Lakota can give you a better answer than even the Hispanic Texicans.
