URL: Kate Middleton reveals cancer diagnosis

The Princess of Wales is being treated for cancer, she
announced tonight in a video message.

The future queen is currently undergoing a course of
chemotherapy that started in February, Kensington Palace
announced. Kate, 42, was admitted to hospital on January
16 for "major abdominal surgery", which has been
confirmed as successful. At the time of her operation it
was thought that her condition was non-cancerous, as no
tests had confirmed the presence of cancer. However,
post-operative tests confirmed that cancer had been
present.

In an emotional and heartfelt televised statement to the
world confirming her diagnosis, recorded in Windsor on
Wednesday, Kate spoke of "an incredibly tough couple of
months for our entire family". But in a sign of her
incredible bravery, the princess issued a message of
hope for those also facing their own battle, saying:
"For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form,
please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone."

Cancer is always devastating diagnosis. However, since
having gone through something like this myself, the
hardened me bristles when she says "For everyone facing
this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose
faith or hope. You are not alone."
For, not everyone has the finances or the access to
high quality cancer care and treatment like she does.
It is easier to say to not lose hope when money is no
hinderance. Because the lack of finances, and access to
health insurance/quality care are what contributed to
digging our deep financial hole. True, I came through
it ok, but the aftermath of medical bills is not the
'hope' one is seeing, as isn't the annual checks to see
if you are still clear - the thought has not left my
mind to the 'what if it returns'......and all the
ramifications thereafter.

I hear you..hubby has been fighting cancer for 15 yrs
now. We're lucky, he has the VA or I dont' know what we
would do financially. We're not rich.

In the beginning, I was working three jobs while he
couldn't work (took 4 yrs for his SocSecDisability to
finally be approved at a hearing).

I'm glad you pulled through Hierophant, sorry your
financial burden was large. Cancer and the treatment is
hard enough without adding in the $$.

One of the reasons I started getting interested in
politics is health care. Some improvements have been
made, but many more changes are still needed to make
sure people can have the dignity of care without losing
everything they own.

And, as for Princess Kate, God be with her and the kids
as they navigate this. She doesn't have the burden of
the medical expenses, but still has all the burden of
the indignities cancer brings and fear it can cause
when that first diagnosis comes through.

The press needs to leave them alone now. I know she's a
princess and all of that, but she's also a human being
and needs to have some human dignity of at least
privacy with her family in all of this.

hugs.

King Charles is well aware of the pitfalls and limitations of modern medicine, and that alternative therapies has a definite place in any clinical regimens.

GOD SAVE THE KING
