My guess is it will either be the Elsinore Fault line or the Newport Inglewood fault line, give the location of the most lost pets.
The lost pets are about 50-50 split between lost cats and dogs, but I only started collecting this additional data today.
I see that not only is today, Monday 8/19/2024 a full moon, but it is a Super Full Moon.

Apparently in the middle east, if a goat stops producing milk, it means a quake is coming.
Also there were stories of wild animals coming out of the woods to log cabin homes along the New Madrid fault line, right before that big 1811 quake that rang the church bells in Boston. The New Madrid fault line roughly follows the Mississippi river. Many animals seem to sense something before a quake hits. Some fear danger, and that is why they try to flee the area. Hence the modern day "lost pet ads".
People I know of, lived through the Big Bear quake and all the after shocks. They knew when a quake was coming because their birds would cling to the side of the cages right before the quake or aftershock hit.

Cataloged the damn things for years.
Then the papers changed, society changed
and pets went online, hard to know what
the baseline is, plus we just had the 4th,
which always spikes the #'s anyways.
Couple weeks or months of data here or
there from an unstudied source is a whole
lot of maybes, and people wouldn't believe
it anyways.
Seems we keep coming back to the same
thing over and over again: preparedness is
the key, always. That's the real message
to send out.
