Hi kay! It’s was found to be a video of the 7.1 Ridgecrest quake in July
2019, not yesterday’s quake.

If you were right on top of the epicenter, yes. It can
be very scary at ground zero.

Been there, done that.

Seems like a thrust fault quake so those feel a lot
worse. People were saying that it went on and on but it
doesn't look that way in the videos. I had a dream about
a quake in pasadena some years ago.

Broken Water Main/Pipes in Pasadena City Hall, plus someone trapped in an elevator and had to be extricated by the Fire Dept.

Doesn't sound like puny 4M to me.

they felt the same way I did......it went on for extraordinarily L-O-N-G time. They felt it was a BIG one too.

However some people have reported just felling a sudden jolt.

This was on air too, CBS, Studio City, they went under their desks and cut the live feed.

Ah, just found this from last week's Grapevine 5.2M quake, a Boulder fell down on the I-5 freeway, blocking a lane or two!

Caltech, USGS gives update on LA earthquake

The usual blah, blah, blah....

They don't know what fault it was on, but they are sure it was a puny 4M.

However they were startled by the number of people who went to their website and completed the "Did you feel it" questionnaire, within the first few minutes of quake, like 15 to 20,000 people.

It was felt in Palm Springs and in San Diego.

I'm in Upland and didn't feel it.
Why would USGS lie about the size? What's
togain from it?

It has to do with Insurance Claims. The higher the magnitude the more insurance companies have to cover.

Loma Prieta was a 7M and downgraded, and so was Northridge.

EarthMaster nailed the USGS he immediately went to the seismometers and that this "4.4" registered on the Eureka seismometer.

MOST seismometers showed OVER 5M, one at 5.6M. Then finally USGS "decided" to lower it to 4.4M, and refused to disclose which seismometer they got that from.

During their shows yesterday, USGS didn't even know which fault this shake was on.
