A 4.9 earthquake struck Barstow, Calif., July 29, 2024.

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake rattled Southern California on Monday afternoon.

The first quake was reported at 1 p.m. with an epicenter in the Barstow area of the Mojave Desert, approximately 114 miles northeast of Los Angeles. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 4.5 miles, according to the United States Geological Survey.
