and to think the 4th of July is just around the corner. around here pets go crazy and run off due to the noise. but then we have legal fireworks and a ton of roadside stands, in TN.
I am unsure as Jim only counted the lost cats for how strong a quake might be. on a phone conversation I had with him before the Loma quake. I told him I believe what he counts as accurate but when i watched the dog numbers I told him I thought they had a clue as to how close it would be.
we were both right! that ratio was 2 dogs to one cat at that time....

Subject: A Lot of "Lost Pets" in San Fran Bay Area: 642 Lost Pets on PawBoost |

I was able to identify and access a couple of websites that documents Lost Pets, to help owners find their lost pets. These are used much more actively than craigslist. One is on FaceBook, and the other is called "PawBoost".
There are currently 642 lost pet ads on PawBoost for the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Whole State of CA has about 1,500 lost pet ads on PawBoost.
So a little more than 1/3 of the lost pets for the Whole State of California, are lost pets in the San Francisco Bay Area.
To me, that seems high.

Lost Pet Data for San Francisco, CA
There are 642 missing pets in the area.
Pawboost: https://www.pawboost.com/lost-found-pets/san-francisco-ca-94111/all-lost-pets/page-2?LfdbFeedStatusForm%5BattributeSearch%5D=&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5Bzip%5D=92627&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5Bstatus%5D=100&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5Baddress%5D=94111&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5Bradius%5D=25&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5Bspecies%5D=&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5Bgender%5D=&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5BsortAttribute%5D=recency&LfdbFeedStatusForm%5BdateRange%5D=90
642 Lost Pets seems high, but then again I haven't been monitoring for a while.
But definitely a LOT of lost pets in the SF and East Bay Area...many reported lost in just the past week and this weekend.
642 seems high to me.
For the whole state of CA, lost pets are 1,500 right now.
So it seems to me we might have found the confirmation we were looking for, as Jim Berkland used to do.
UPDATE: I'm on a learning curve with this PawBoost website. I just did a search for FOUND pets, and that is 757!
So 642 LOST Pets AND 757 Found Pets.
Just for the SF Bay Area, 50 mile radius of Embarcaderos in San Francisco (zip code 94111)......and just in the last month.
Presumably there is some over lap between these two searches.....as some "lost" pets, were "found".
2nd thought: I'm going to stick with the "Lost" pets, because perhaps people who want to unload their pet list under "found", thus inflating the true "run-aways".
Well, that is the best I can do.

Gosh, just while drafting this post, the Lost pets went up to 651.

China evacuated a whole city before a major quake hit, because snakes were fleeing the area.
