I have to admit, I am a bit nervous, about so many "micro-quakes"......with.....so far.....no main event.
Up and down the state, on all faults, including the Garlock fault.
We are NOT in a full moon phase.
No X-class Solar Flares.
Yet the number of micros, keeps steadily climbing. 900+ and heading to 1,000 micros within 7 days with no explanation.
I hate to say it, but I "think" we are BUILDING up to something......a significant quake.
However, if the number of micros decreases down to 700 or below again, I will feel better.
But right now.....I am nervous.....

Garlock ... that says it all ... it is an ironic name and is the lock that must be turned to open the door down south and open wide the next spreading center ... it would appear that something is building on the far side ... left-lateral shear and the edge of the Mojave block ... big quake in 1992 and then in 1999 and then quiet ever since except for the activity under the south end of the Salton sea ... always somewhere in my head back in the day when I found JOB twenty-eight years ago

Current number of micros for the past 7 days is 938.
If you subtract all the micros related to The Geysers (No. Sonoma County), of 478,
That brings the totals down to about 450, for the all of CA except for the Geysers.
450 is a much more reasonable number.
There were a ton of Geyser quakes yesterday, so we have to wait 6 more days for those to fall off the seismic map, so we can see where we really are.
450 seems about "normal".
Of course, having said that, I have absolutely NO idea what seems to be irritating The Geysers up north. What's happening to the Geysers is abnormal. Possibly a volcanic eruption brewing up there?

Oh, thanks for that information.
So the rise in micros at the Geyers could indicate another major quake is on the Horizon.....in the SF Bay Area, along the San Andreas fault line???
I read recently that as long as the Salton Sea is NOT full of water, the San Andreas should remain quiet, because researchers found a relationship between the amount of water in the Sulton Sea and the Southern end of the San Andreas fault line activity.

California’s Salton Sea May Be Staving Off Earthquakes As It Disappears
"...as the Salton Sea in Southern California has dried up, it has stabilized the southern section of the San Andreas Fault, perhaps delaying the next “big one.” ....

Its about 8pm Sat night, Pacific Time.
So far, just TODAY, there have been 240 micro quakes, out of a total of 920 for the past 7 days.
That means 25% of the micro quakes in the last 7 days have happened just TODAY, in less than 20 hours.
In the past 7 days, 131/day would be average, (920/7=131), yet in just the past 20 hours, we have had 240 micros!
Clearly we are building up to something, especially TODAY!
Again, no main event yet to explain that sudden preponderance of micros, no full moon, and no x-class solar flares.
Why so many micros TODAY???
And they are spread out all over the state, with the most in So. CA.

Ah, I see what is going on, it is the Geysers up in Sonoma County/Lake County, CA.....465 micros....that is over one half of all the micros in CA in the past 7 days.
So what's going on at the Geysers????
Maybe it will turn into a volcanic eruption?

4.5 quake shakes Sonoma County
https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/sonoma-county-quake-18429460.php
Looks like they are saying this is a relatively "non-event".
This article from 2009 said that 88 in one week at the Geysers was unusual. But now we are dealing with 465 in one week.
https://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread426897/pg1
I guess nothing significant happened in 2009 (that I can remember), so perhaps not much to worry about now?
