Felt in Tehachapi. Even felt a smallish aftershock. (The shower is not the best place to be during an earthquake ;)

I didn't feel it...which was strange since it was fairly close and shallow. But, a number of neighbors did (My nextdoor app blew up).
This was a "normal" quake, in other words a block dropped down in relation to another block.
The "felt" reports were sporatic...some down in bakersfield felt it. I'm guessing the reason for this is the underlying geology...a whole lot of fractured granite (Sierra batholith). Because it was so shallow, the surrounding granite is a lot more fractured than deeper rock. The fractures create a shock-absorber effect for many areas.
Another reason was the direction..seems like the stronger wave energy shot out more sw-ne (I would have been directly south) which could explain why more people in Bakersfield felt it than other areas closer (plus Bakersfield is on deep sediments, rather than granite. It shakes more).
Kinda sorry I did not feel it at my house. Would have spiced up my day :)
