I know a guy, a geology professor at a university that does cooperative
studies with the volcano observatory here, that had himself an epiphany and
went from being a true old school field geologist with rock hammer and mag
glass in hand to going on about the universe being only 6 thousand years old.
And, as you can imagine, the staff at the university, and because of his
influence on students that were doing research at the observatory it filtered
up to us, and folks began to talk.
So a group of us took the guy out to dinner. Friendly kine, pupus and all that,
and got to talking, so how does he square his new found beliefs with the
lessons he's suppose to teach in which the discussion is in millions of years?
And he said.. god made old rocks.
Of course nobody wanted to hear him go on like that with his students and I
am pretty sure, in that he's still many years later on staff, he doesn't. I bring
this up because I'm curious, is that how you see it? Are the processes I've
spend my life contemplating a ruse? Is plate tectonics some kind of slight of
hand? Are our concepts of how the heavens formed just so much poppycock?
And if so, why? Why would the creator do that? What's the point?

It is stunning. I know a chemical engineer who was
excited to see a fossil he took to a science show might
have been "6000 years old!"
Answers to questions I asked similar to yours...
Processes you studied are valid, unless God wants to
suspend them. He can manipulate that laws of physics
at will.
Science will prove the Bible correct or science is
wrong.
God's will is a mystery, maybe there is no point except
for us to deny our flawed perception and submit to His
will. His will as revealed in the Bible. His will as
revealed in the Bible according to the interpretation
as taught in *our* Church.
But this was also the same degreed someone who worked
at the Ker-McGee plant at the same time as Karen
Silkwood and had never heard of any contamination.
Go figure.

mostly because most of the evidence has been erased by the ravages of time...but gurdjieff found plenty of evidence in middle asia in the late 1800s...but this is the wrong board for this...

I beg to differ.
Carlson goes back much further than gurdjieff.
Where else would this go, as it has to do with punctuated
major earth changes: hellacious EQs, volcanism, storms
and the like--not just 'ravages of time'.
