right now on the science channel is a engineering catastrophes show. funny thing our local news gal was a reporter back then doing the story for another TV station. she tonight retold the story of the Chevrolet Corvette museum sink hole the subject of the TV show. she says it is the 10th year anniversary of it.
now to the water mains, yesterday was a clean up one of the day before. this mornings break was another 10" main just West of downtown Nashville. I just keep tuning into them on our local news traffic reports of roads being closed. I have lost count of them this year but it must be near 50 since January 1st. last year there were over 100 in the first two months.
I know it is like watching a slow motion earth movements. sink hole in Canada along the St. Lawrence river then a few years/maybe 15 years ago the Cedar Creek golf course just South of Branson MO owned by the Bass Pro Shop owner. the 1811-12 quakes reported a lot of sink holes but there were no geologist working back then was there. who knows the exact dates of the sink holes? so was it a real engineering catastrophe or just mother earth moving?
I will admit lately I have been feeling minor quakes but do not see them registered every time on local meters/seismometers. being on bed rock it can travel far. in retrospect folks the land is moving! the question is when and how big....
