while we read the 600 yard splitting of Iceland where the great mid Atlantic rift is. it should be no wonder while the middle part of the ocean is fully splitting apart and as fresh magma hits the sea water it would warm the whole ocean. I am sure it is ongoing all the way to the Antarctica. it's just where we can not see it.
