Magnitude 3.8 earthquake rattles the Bay Area

A magnitude 3.8 earthquake shook the East Bay at 8:36 p.m. on Wednesday night, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The quake’s epicenter was just south of Antioch, and residents in the city — as well as in Brentwood, Concord and Danville — reported feeling the temblor to USGS.

"Shaking intensity in the weak to light range across Contra Costa and Solano counties," tweeted meteorologist Rob Mayeda. "Oddly here in Danville, heard it rumbling (like distant thunder) more than felt it even though we weren’t too far away."

One Twitter user captured “a large jolt” on their security camera from the quake.

There were no reports of damage available at this time.
