About the ties between Mauna Loa and Kilauea volcanoes.. it is interesting to note that as the now seemingly over Mauna Loa eruption came to an end, the year long continuous eruption at Kilauea’s summit also 'paused.' Where the term ‘pause’ is used to suggest it could resume, there is no indication one way or another. But, at the moment, there is no volcanic activity anywhere in Hawaii.
Mauna Loa continues to show no signs of renewed activity.. but I have yet to see anyone say it’s over. You can see the data on my last post here for the latest instrumentation (those plots, and camera view, are still, and should continue to be up-to-date).
