If I'm not mistaken, Jim Berkland had a close personal friend.....a convict who was serving time in prison who was also using a radio to predict quakes. Not quite sure if he was Jack Coles. Perhaps someone here can clarify.

Jim Berkland was always asking donations for Jack, cuz he just couldn't live off prison food. While being arraigned in court, a judge asked him what he did for a living, and Jack stunned the courtroom by answering he was an earthquake predictor.
