Subject: gigantric tree fell, the rain soaked ground??

right next to our house in the empty lot yesterday. I has two trees growing intertwined, an oak and a madrone, not sure of how old but old and massive!we came home from downtown and went to turn into our drive way and said woa Nellie! we are lucky it didn't fall our way though part that is still standing would fall over our fence and into our driveway if it did keep tearing apart. we drove around it as we saw one neighbor out there and stopped and we talked and then another one came out and they stood in the rain and us in the car discussing it. They heard and felt things shake and went out to see what happened! it looks like it pulled the rest of it leaning a bit and it is all over the lot and sidewalk and into the street. we figure with this rain soaking the ground over and over and the huge branches of it, the weight was too much!
I wonder how many trees here in the nw that will fall too from this heavy continuing moisture. On the other side of our back fence there are three tall oaks just waiting to fall, maybe a good thing the neighbor had the big branches cut off last year...anyway...

Wow Kay I was just posting that possibility of Personal
as you were sending this. Wind and the saturated ground
is a very bad combination. We lost a couple of huge
evergreens that way a few years back.

Insurance only covers if a structure was damaged and tree
removal is expensive. Stay safe.If you want insurance on
an old car or the like park it under that tipsy tree LOL.
