And the thing is, in Merritt, almost all the basements are flooded. That means no Furnaces, No Hot Water Heaters. They are all damaged beyond repair. And it gets brutally cold there, so how are these people going to survive winter in their homes? There are not enough Furnace Install People and Water Heater Install People to possibly get the job done for all these hundreds of homes that are going to require their services. Even if the people can manage to move back in to their houses, how will they keep warm and have warm water? And their is more rain on the way as well.

Lordy snodrop, nearly every highway was heavily damaged according to these photos. Amazing how the crews got right on it to clear at least one lane so as to open up traffic to get supplies through. If this happened here, I doubt highway crews could manage such fast work. It still riles me how our national media hasn't featured what happened there at all. They're all about trials, politics and ignore the elephant in the room - climate change and how it's affecting the world with extreme weather events like the ones in Canada, etc.

We've got crews everywhere trying to repair etc but our biggest problem is the Coquihalla highway and once it snows...that will put back repairs for months.
We get to do this all over again starting tomorrow...according to one local news outlet we will be getting "a parade of storms".

I saw the damage to the Coquihalla highway right from the beginning in videos, couldn't believe my eyes! It sure looks like a whole lot of rain coming your way in the next few days. Hoping it doesn't affect the Abbotsford area again like the last time. I did read that this highway probably won't be completely fixed until 2022 so there's that. Keep us posted and please do stay safe snodrop.
