How the PNSN is preparing for the next big earthquake

The last earthquake to cause significant damage in the
PNSN monitoring region – all of Washington and Oregon –
took place more than a generation ago (20 years): the
M6.8 Nisqually earthquake. Since then, much has changed
in the field of regional seismic hazard monitoring.

thanks Pamela, I so remember that quake and even though we live in the Mid Willamette valley, several minutes before that quake, I heard a sound like a freight train moving through us. My doggy Annie barfed too (she never did that before)so I went to USGS to see if anything was happening as I felt nausea too. There it was, the Nisqually quake!
Shows to go ya how these quakes can be heard over a wide area.
